How to correct the data in CIC file?

We dated from 2007. we married in 2011 Jan.. I did not update my marriage status to CIC, but sponsorship was submitted in Feb.. The question is the words show "No RELATIONSHIP" as a family member file.

If you submitted your sponsorship file in Feb 2011, what was there to even update in Jan 2011? Are you/your spouse a PR or did you or your spouse otherwise have a CIC file already, before you got married?

Would you mind sharing a little bit more about what's noted in your immigration file please?

1) Is it a GCMS/CAISP or FOSS printout that you received from your immigration file?
2) In which particular section does it say "NO RELATIONSHIP"? Is it in the "NOTES" section with some free form texts? Or is it under "CLIENT DETAILS" section or somewhere else?
3) Do you see any section named as "PAPER FILE" and if yes, what location does it say?
4) Did you file 'In Canada' or 'Outside Canada' spousal application?

If we have more of the information from you, it will help to direct you to the appropriate number to call.

So you have filed "Inside Canada" spousal sponsorship.

According to CIC's timeline (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp), they just started processing application received on February 1, 2012.

EDIT: Sorry, the above timeline is for outland application, while for inland applications, they are working on applications received on April 30, 2011.

I'm not sure on what date your application was received by CIC, if it was mid or late February, then it may still be sitting somewhere waiting to be opened. Until then, the CIC agent will not be able to provide you any status details about your file, and any information on the immigration file/system is not too meaningful for the time being.

I would suggest you post in the following thread as there are many people of similar case as you (inland filed in 2011) who may be able to share more based on their experiences.

•if you applied before the date on the processing times page, you can inform CPC-Mississauga by choosing one of the links below. Please include the Sponsor's name, date of birth, and UCI Number or Application Number if known in all correspondence. You will not receive a reply to questions or enquiries about other topics.

If you are unable to send an enquiry by the above methods you may notify CPC-Mississauga of these changes by mail or fax. The contact information can be found in the Sponsorship Guide. Other questions or enquiries will not be acknowledged and you will not receive a response.

The link basically opens the email program in your computer, and try to send an email...

As I have never received FOSS notes (it's for inland applicants only and I applied outland), I won't be able to deduce anything further from your FOSS notes. That's why I suggested that you can post your question in the Inland 2011 thread that other inland applicants who may have encountered similar issue can share with you what they did so you can follow.

Note: If you're applying from inside canada, why do you need to pay $5? It should be free while you are present in Canada.

hELLO! I think I can help you with this one..because I am currently requesting a correction on my file... You should fill up a Record Correction form.

and return it to the office that processed your request, along with documentary evidence supporting the correction. If your request for correction is not accepted for any reason, a notation will be attached to your file regarding the error or omission you believe it contains. (This was from the email I got.)

But the officer who processed my request said that he just print and send, or email. He is not the person to create the file, he can not change it, please give me the further info..

Hello! to further explain this to you.... here's what happened to me....


I ordered foss notes....
One of the remarks of the IO says " principal applicant mislead herself when she applied for a visa to come to canada by not declaring her son"

LIKE WHATTTT THE HELLLL???? THAT IS NOT SO TRUE

Then when I read one of the pages of my file ,IO officer from the Philippines put "NO DEPENDENT" when I applied a visa.

So yes! thanks to him or her!!!! But good thing I have a proof (copy of forms I filled up from 2008) that I did declare my son....

I filled up the Record Correction form which was mailed to me together with the foss notes,....

and then I sent it to the Philippines because they were the one's who made an error to my file....

So if you are correcting something on your file send it to the office who first "TOUCHED" or "MADE" a file for you....
