I would like to know if there is a way to convert PR to an open work permit?
Situation: I am citizen of China with PR status. Under China's nationality law, for a chind born in Canada to obtain Chinese citizenship, I can not have permanent resident at the time of child birth. I am willing to give up PR status but I need an open work permit to keep my employment.
Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China
Article 5 Any person born abroad whose parents are both Chinese nationals or one of whose parents is a Chinese national shall have Chinese nationality. But a person whose parents are both Chinese nationals and have both settled abroad, or one of whose parents is a Chinese national and has settled abroad, and who has acquired foreign nationality at birth shall not have Chinese nationality.
settled abroad is understanded as having permanent resident status.
