How to choose a Right NOC among Multple

I am sure many applicants from the computer and programming background would have these doubts.

There are few titles in the NOC list which sounds and works kinda similar for any software engineer/developers.

2171 - Information Systesms Analysts & Consultants
2173 - Software Engineers & Designers
2174 - computer Programmers & Interactive Media Devp
2175 - Web Designers & Developers

The truth is even though the job titles are listed different, the work area of these 4 cross each other every now and then.
You will always find software engineers who have worked as web designers or developers.
You will always find IT analysts who have worked as computer programmers and so on..

My questions are:
1. How to decide which NOC title is best while applying?
2. Is there a way to decide or narrow down to the one which is most beneficial?
3. I believe there are number of applicants which are approved as per each NOC title each year. When the fresh list is entered in the system for that particular year and is there a way to find which NOC title has how many possible applicants applied or visas available?

Thank you.

Take a look at the job duties of each one. Duties, and not job title, is what matters when choosing your NOC. Choose the one in which the duties are the most similar to what you actually do.

You can also email NC-NOC-CNP-GD2@hrsdc-rhdcc.gc.ca. Include all your duties and education and they will tell you which NOC better suits you.

Since Express Entry launched in 2015, there is no NOC selection at the federal level. As long as your CRS meets the cutoff, you get an ITA regardless of NOC.

NOC selections now only occur at the provincial level.

So if you are aiming for a provincial nomination, you may choose which NOC is in demand in the province you want to apply to.

Tip for you: you may want to remove 2173 from your consideration if you're applying to a PNP, as some provinces (like Saskatchewan) require a licence for to apply to their PNP in this NOC.

Can you please shed some light on the PNP program as well?
What is PNP and how it can be useful?

Is it possible for a person to be FSW and apply under the Express Entry and under PNP as well?

This sticky post at the top of this forum summarizes it well.

Being FSW is a prerequisite.
