How to check visitor status applied in Seattle

I have sent my application following the office site instructions. But after that, I didn't hear anything from consular in Seattle for a couple of weeks. I want to check my visa status. Does any body have any idea how to check the status?
Since this is my first time apply a visa through mail, I followed the instruction and send my passport directly, not sure if it is the correct thing to do. Just feel scared to send the passport directly without any confirmations.

Yes, I did. And no reply yet. I plan to call them tomorrow and see how it works.

did you check their processing time? It is 33 days. So if 33 days + mailing haven't passed you won't find out anything.
