Hi guys,

I have been waiting for my PR (applied under Skilled Migrant express Entry) to be approved over a year now and it is still under review. My bridging work permit expires in Feb 27 and I received the news from Immigration that My Background Check is still under the review and they don't know when my PR would be approved.

I managed to reach Immigration Support and she said I should apply for an extension on my bridging work permit but honestly, I can't figure out HOW!

I see there is a form 5710e to extend your work permit but none of those four are applied to me. Since I am on a bridging work permit which is no longer sponsored by my employer. Could someone please help how to proceed in my case?

Thank you in advance.

Kind Regards,
Natalia

Hi

IMM5710 is the correct form. Select "Initial work permit..."
Thank you. Is there a way I could complete it online? It seems to always bring me to a questionnaire that says I am qualified for Express Entry based on my skills and nothing where i could apply for work permit extension?

So thankful for your advice.

You should be able to. Without going through the questions, I can't tell you what answers you need to provide to get that option.

To get the option to apply to extend the BOWP online, you have to say that you want to work temporarily (more than 6 months).

Hey,

Please go to this link:
http://onlineservices-servicesenligne.cic.gc.ca/eapp/launchEapp.do?lang=en&appTypeID=7403

And review the answers below to see if they apply to you.
If they do, you'd be able to extend your Bridge Work permit.

What would you like to do in Canada?
Work

How long are you planning to stay in Canada?
Temporarily - more than 6 months

Select the code that matches the one on your passport.
Whatever......

What is your current country/territory of residence? If you are presently in Canada, you should select Canada.
Canada

Do you have a family member who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and is 18 years or older?
No

What is your date of birth?
January 1, 1999

Are you a lawful permanent resident of the United States with a valid alien registration card (Green Card)?
No

What is your current immigration status in Canada?
Worker

Does one of the following apply to you?
I am subject of a removal order that is unenforceable
I applied for a study or work permit before entering Canada which was approved, but not issued at a port of entry; or
I am a primary or secondary student with visitor status in Canada; or
I am a visiting or exchange student with visitor status in Canada; or
I am a student who has completed a program of study that is a prerequisite to my enrolment at a designated learning institution with visitor status in Canada; or
I applied for permanent residence and was found eligible (first stage approval) under one of the following classes:
Spouse or Common-law Partner in Canada

Protected Persons in Canada
Live-in Caregiver in Canada
No

Are you a spouse, common-law partner or dependent child of a person who:

Yes

Yes

Do you have a written job offer?
No

What is your marital status?

Manitoba

Are you accompanying a family member who has status in Canada?
No

When does your status in Canada expire?

There are more questions that won't change the final result.

BUT!
If you:
1. Have a provincial nominee approval letter
2. AND are willing to keep working for your employee until you get your results...

Then you can apply for a closed working permit.

Do the same above, but check the answers below:

To request a Job Offer, you need to request your employer to do the following (my employee did this to me and this is the message my company got from the government to proceed with the request):
IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada –formerly known as CIC Citizenship and Immigration Canada) announced changes to the International Mobility Program requiring employers and applicants to pay an additional fee prior to issuing new work permit. Refer to this link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/employers/hire-how.asp and follow the instructions on International Mobility Program (IMP). In hiring workers under the IMP you will need to pay $230 cad and submit an offer of employment form through the employment portal.
You also need to write a letter with the logo of the company you're working for, stating what you do, when did you start, your NOC, your wage (per year), your hours (per week or per month), your benefits.
You must ask your direct manager to sign and date this letter and to be able to confirm that you're working for them.
