I have applied for an extension of my Mom's temporary resident status. Her status expires on August 2nd, but according to processing times quoted on the IRCC website, we will probably not receive a decision on the application until August 25th.

The rules say your status is valid until the day of the decision. If my Mom's application is refused, we are confused as to how it might be possible for her to react right away to leave Canada as her status will not be valid the next day.

What is a reasonable time IRCC will accept should she have to make the preparations necessary to leave? Do you think she can have a week of grace time? I am unable to contact the call center agents after trying repeatedly.

Your help will be much appreciated!

If she's refused, she should try to leave within 30 days of receiving the decision. This isn't written anywhere in black and white. However this is the general behaviour CIC/CBSA seems to want to see to ensure she'll have no issues returning in the future.

You have to buy tickets for her in order to avoid any issues in future. Please do that in case the decision is delayed. So that she can come again
