How should the online status look when you sponsorship gets approved?

Does any one remember how was the online status look like before their sponsorship gets approved? Does it show both "Sponsorship Application Status" and "Permanent Residence Application Status" or just the "Sponsorship Application Status"?

And under the "Permanent Residence Application Status" shows the file was received on ..... date.....but not " in process". Should I be worried?

The reason I am asking is, it says decision made, and letter was sent out on Dec 24, 2012, but I still didn't receive the letter yet. Little impatient here. want to find little evidence to figure out what the result maybe. Many thanks.....

No, from reading different experiences, it seems perfectly normal. Some users have reported their status being "in process" still when they get their COPR. Updating the status doesn't seem to be a priority to some offices/agents.

Thank you.

But before the sponsorship decision made, was there a column for "Permanent Residence Application Status"???? Do you remember?

well it's difficult to say because most people only saw ecas once they got the sponsorship approved, because that's when they got the file number etc...

but in your case - if you have been sent a letter on the 24th of December, it's probably an approval. If you have a 'regular case' (no criminal record, and you're sponsoring your family, you had declared them before landing as a PR if it was the case etc), then it's an approval... if they were missing information they would have asked you.... so it should be good news.

If you're in Canada as the sponsor you can try and call CIC and ask about it on the phone, most of the time the agents can tell you if you have been approved.

Good luck,
Sweden

That's what mine said after my sponsorship was approved, but I never did receive a hard copy letter - I received the letter by email the same day as stated on the status "...we sent you a letter on....". Did you provide your email address on the application? Have you checked your junk mail folder (I have heard of many people getting email from CIC with important information that ends up in junk mail folders)?

Thank you, Sweden.

My only problem is I am not in Canada at this moment, so I can't call the call center. And I am worried they will reject my sponsorship application because that as well.

what did you include as proofs that you will return to Canada? if you have included a few things, then there should not be a problem... if they had doubts that you would return, they would have asked you for more information, and not rejected you up-front.
Also - even if it says " a letter" has been sent, sometimes it's an email for sponsorship approval, and it will still say "a letter" - did you check your spam folder? it might be there...

Oh, that sounds great, they will request more information and won't just reject me.

I checked the spam, but accidently delete all of them before finish checking :'(

So, I guess my best bet is to fill up the Use of a Representative form and ask my hubsand to call in for me.

thank you Sweden!

If you use the "representative form", all future correspondence will be given to your husband, and not to you... I would suggest instead that you use the "release of information", which allows somebody else to check on your status, but you will still get the correspondence from CIC.

In your case, it won't work. The sponsor can call to enquire about the sponsorship part, and that's done in Canada.
The applicant is the referent person for the PR part - and that's done outside of Canada, so if your wife calls, she will be told either that they won't release information to her ( as she is the sponsor, and not the applicant), or/and that no information is available in the system in Canada ( apart from in process, which you already know) as the file is already in an outland VO.

sorry - you'll just have to wait until the end of the month most likely.

After approval it looks exactly same as you mentioned.I mean you can't tell by reading online status whether it is approved or not, just shows a decision has made.
You can wait for letter or just call cic and they will tell you the result.

Hi Sweden, I am filling in the release of information form and am wondering what to put for Name of Office that application was submitted and then location. Is that Mississauga or Pretoria? Thanks!

Ms Malawi, You can only call to check on the status regarding the sponsorship. So it will be Mississauga. If you want to check the status for the PR part, you will have to email the embessy.

I'm not completely sure to be honest. So maybe somebody else can comment. To me it would make sense to put Pretoria because that's where the application is headed at the end, but since it's about the sponsorship part, maybe Mississauga would make more sense indeed.
Good luck,
Sweden
