Not at all, they are two different things, having Canadian citizenship, in my case, is not about being able to travel visa-free, I can do that already my my first passport, rather is about being able to vote here in Canada and having a say about how the country is managed, after all I live here and whatever decisions politicians make in Ottawa and my province will affect me, not to mention that it creates a stronger bond between myself and this country I call now home. When I go to Europe I always use my EU passport, now when I travel elsewhere I'll use Canadian passport since I live in Canada as as of July 10 I will be Canadian citizenGoldline said:Would you change it for a Canadian passport?
How can you be so sure about living in another country permanently, with the coming of c24. I am concerned if they would try and revoke citizenship if you lived outside of Canada for a long time.FL1040 said:Not bad....I have already a passport that gives me access to 172 countries, not to mention that I can live permanently in any country member of the European Union...
LOL there's no single country in the world that revokes citizenships for living abroad, don't be too naive when you read the BS about C-24 on the net.QAI said:How can you be so sure about living in another country permanently, with the coming of c24. +1...my passport is guaranteed by the Swiss constitution for life, so no danger here. Same with my New Zealand passport.Pureminded said:LOL there's no single country in the world that revokes citizenships for living abroad, don't be too naive when you read the BS about C-24 on the net.
No, Cuba is just a political thing, Americans can still go over there following some procedure. For North Korea it's visas for everyone on earth regardless of the citizenship.keesio said:I'm surprised that Canada is lower than the USA. I always thought Canada was a bit higher because they have an easier time getting into some countries than the US (Cuba and North Korea come to mind).
Yeah but to get approval from the state dept for Cuba is almost impossible. And for North Korea - Americans, South Koreans and anyone besides the first two but of Korean descent have an especially hard time trying to visit North Korea.Pureminded said:No, Cuba is just a political thing, Americans can still go over there following some procedure. What EU country this passport is about?
Personally I do have two other passports one from father and one from mother's side (Algerian and French passports) but I love the Canadian passport

Republic of Ireland comes to mind (okay, I don't know whether they have ever revoked someone's citizenship just for residing abroad for too long, but there is a provision for naturalized citizens that have lived abroad for far too long to report or risk losing their citizenship)Pureminded said:LOL there's no single country in the world that revokes citizenships for living abroad, don't be too naive when you read the BS about C-24 on the net.
