Dear Fellows,
I am migrating to Canada next month from Dubai on PR Visa (FSWP).

- I would like to know, how many days it takes to get PR card after I apply for it after landing in Canada?

- Also I would like know, is any body else in Canada receive PR card on my behalf if I come back to Dubai from there early?

Looking forward for your kind responses.....!!

Processing times are between 50-80 days (dont know why)
If you provide a local address yes they will mail the cards over, you dont need to wait in Canada for the cards.

You can call CIC and enquire about the status of your PR Card.

If you are inside Canada: Call 18882422100

If you are outside Canada: Call 16139444000

Well I did my landing on the same date, I called up yesterday and they told me the cards were shipped out on last week of May and Canada post will take 6 weeks (??) to deliver the cards. Call up CIC and check your status of the PR cards. Your online status will not reflect the PR cards and will continue to remain 'complete'

Dear Rawdah

I'm very much thankful to you for your prompt reply and guideline to contact. Hopefully I would be able to contact CIC and would get positive response.

Hello,

Would be landing in Canada during the last week of July. Is there a rule for minimum no. of days which a new immigrant has to stay in Canada before they can travel to their country. Is a PR card mandatory or one can travel without a PR card? Since it is mentioned in the earlier posts that PR card will be issued and reach us in 60-90 days can new immigrants travel to their home country with the immigrant visa on their passports/
Also can new immigrants travel to USA, is there any cap on the no. of days before travelling to USA?

PL. share your inputs, it would be of great help. thanks.

There is no rule for a minimum number of days which you have to stay in Canada before you travel to your country. If you are not from a visa exempt country then yes you must wait for your PR card before you travel out of Canada via a commercial airline. You will not be let back into Canada without your PR card if you are not from a visa exempt country. That being said you could always go back to your home country and when your PR card arrives in the mail here in Canada you could have someone courier it to you in your home country.

If you are from a visa exempt country you can travel with your COPR. Technically an airline is not supposed to let you on the plane with only a COPR (without PR Card) but when you are from a visa exempt country the chance of them hassling you about it is very slim. Once you get back to Canada you can show immigration your COPR (or they can look you up in their computer system).

Hi

Thanks for your inputs, is couriering your PR card to your Home country a safe option ??

Once you have landed and passed immigration procedure. A couple weeks or a month later, your ECAS status should be changed to "Complete".

E.g. I landed on 4th May and my ECAS status was changed to complete on 16th June.
