how much time getting SIN takes?

Hi Guys,

I have got my PR confirmation visa and I am about to land in Canada in a week. I have got the job offer as well.

However, I guess to work legally in Canada you atleast need SIN number, correct me if I am wrong.

My question is how much time it would take to get SIN number, I read somewhere on the forum that you get your SIN number right away on landing? is it true?

Depends if you land in Pearson international airport in Toronto and during Service Canada business hours.

I got mine from a Service Canada location in 30 min.

For me, it was only 15 min at a service canada location.

It’s not a big deal. If you land outside of normal business hours, you can get it from any Service Canada location during their normal working hours within 30 mins or less.

Yes - SIN is a must to work legally in CN.
You need to have your passport and COPR, visit Service Canada office and once its your turn, it will take no more than 10-15 minutes to get the SIN.
