Folks,

I know that it is best to keep the money with the bank till the time you land in Canada - as IO can ask for it any time.

I want to know how much needs to be retained. If for a family of 3, some 16k CAD is required, and you show 20K CAD (in application form) - should complete 20K need to be retained in the bank; or is it sufficient if I meet the minimum $16,580 min requirement and withdraw rest to cater to necessities?

TIA,
boltz

I would advise you retain the amount that is sufficient for 3people.
I know someone that submitted his application, he was single, he showed extra $2000 apart from the amount required for one applicant. The IO asked for new statement just before the visa was issued , the guy had used the extra $2000 on top of the amount required for him alone as single applicant but he still got his visa because he still met the fund requirement for only one individual. GOOD LUCK.

I believe you should have sufficient cash with you but Remember if you take more than 10,000 CANDOLLAR you need to declare at customes as per Canadian Regulations,
YES,IO will ask you how much you have but sufficient money will be anough and take print of your Bank Account Just in case

Regards

Dag

i agree with the above posts. one thing though, we also need to remember canadian dollars flactuates from time to time so its important we have a little more in the bank statement.

Will a local (Indian) Bank Statement for equivalent CAD is enough or I have take with me the money to Canada?

as far as i know bank statement is enough.its ur choice though if u want to take cash but u need to declare it to airport officers if its more than $10k cad
