I have north of 200 entries for absences in my physical presence calculator--nearly 95% of them to cross the border in the US to purchase gas, go out to eat, pick up mail, and semi-regular trips to the office. They last hours, sometimes 15 minutes.

How much detail should I list for reasons? "Brief trip - gas purchase, pickup mail" etc? What's the best way to say these are super brief, routine things that many would classify as "errands"?

Daily commuters have multiple times more than this. They never had issue in processing.

Officers are not looking for the reason you visited some other country in detail. You can simply put the description as Shopping, Meeting a friend, Tourism etc. They dont care and certainly they have no way of knowing why you visited in the first place.

Important is to list all absences to enable them verify the absence days easily hence its not more about description detail.

I am curious: do they need to declare a visit to the US if they went and came back at the same day?
