How much cash can i bring?

I am new immigrant to Canada, next month i will make landing, we are a family of 5 persons , my believe, as per the instructions, the maximum cash to bring is 10000$, if more i have to inform the immigration office in the airport. is there any taxes have to be paid accordingly. please advise the best.

You can bring as much cash as you want - you just have to declare it if you have more than $10K. And no - you will not be taxed if you bring more than $10K.

Just be a bit careful if u transit via USA and makes a stop there before continuing your journey to Canada. Us customs wants to know exactly how much u have in each currency. U need to be aware cos they will ask u to fill up another form before letting u go. All in all, expect to spend about 15 mins to clear this part. The entire process can be faster if u know exactly how much u have in each currency.

It is just for formality and u will not be taxed or anything.
