There is no Max limit... we can take Millions, if we can prove its legitimate source & declare anything at/or more than $10,000 [that's the CBSA regulation].

There is a Minimum though... we must carry at least or more than what CIC requirement states for the no. of pax in the family [accompanying].

Dear Ebr,

Take it as a 'thumb rule' that the CIC dictated funds figure is for a Avg Spender for 6 months. It is calculated on LICO & stands for any Canadian City, which gets updated yearly, unless there is a drastic change in 'cost-of-living'.

But, note that this is not an ideal figure. It is a 'modest' calculation for 'surviving' traits & also doesn't consider additional expenses like:
1. Higher spending habits.
2. Car & other Asset purchases.
3. Regular dining-out.
4. Vigorous sightseeing trips.
5. Out-of-town visits/excursions.
6. Sending money Home.
7. Emergency costs of any kind.

Thus, with that CIC POF requirement, generally we'll be able to manage for 6 months. Read the word 'manage'. Any changes into the above 7 shall need excess funds.

Hope that helps.

Carry 20000 - 25000 CAD but if you can manage until you get the job, it shall not be a problem.

i think i can not explain my question.
i have an arrange employment in canada so immigration will not ask abt funds to show at landing time.
but i want to carry 30000$ along with me.
i heard that at first time landing you can carry as much as you want and there is no maximum limit.
is this true?

Jashan, back to the same answer... Yes, u can carry any amount [though, as u r aware, with an AEO u do not need any POF]. Yes again, U can carry the $30,000/- [declare it though to the CBSA Officer, as it's over the $10,000/- rule]. U can take them in any 'acceptable' format... Cash, B/Draft, Shares, Debentures, PF statement, Bank statement etc. One or multiple formats clubbed together.

Dear Bhavesh,

If with a 'job' u r implying an 'employment' with a firm, I haven't done that since some time now. I'm self-employed, u may say... Which is why I'm not in the 'job market league'. I'm a professional Security Consultant. On the 'backing me' front... I have been doing quite many projects in Canada since long & thus, know lots of guys out there. Including my relatives & friends. That's definitely some help to me.

On the job foray, if u have read my thread on 'how to be successful in the job front...' here, u would have noticed some real-time mental adaptation is needed while in Canada. Whereafter, I advice everyone to head for a 'manpower consultant' asap. Those guys have a way with finding us firstly a starter vocation & later help us with better positioning. Since 1995 till I was employed, all my placements came thru those folks.

For Sr. Management level, that's the way it would go albeit. And ditto for our 'job search' [any levels] in Canada. A firm called "Adecco Employment Services Ltd." is a good one. Check for Adecco Canada online http://www.adecco.ca/. There r scores of others too. But, I know plenty of folks who r quite happy with them.

Post landing u may touch base with me for additional info on the subject. Rest assured I'll always be of assistance, w/out any obligations from your front.

Regards,
Qorax.
