How many of you applied for BOWP before 4 months and got it?

My closed work permit is expiring in February 15th 2016 and need to get new open permit as soon as possible. Does it make sense to apply for BOWP right now? Because of 120 days of processing, I think it doesn't make sense anymore to wait to be within 4 months.
Did anybody apply in advance so when CIC process it it is within 4 months rule and got approved?

If I wait to be within 4 months processing time might be then 6 months!

luke22 has.

I wanted to do the same but just didn't want to risk it. I applied for my second BOWP yesterday exactly 4 months prior to my current one expiring. Worst case I will go on implied status if they take longer than 4 months, it'll be okay.

I want to do that because I want to get open work permit. Implied status doesn't work for me anymore. Wondering what are the chances and if anybody got approved that way recently. All this 4 months rule doesn't make any sense anymore. And they should make exceptions now as they are the slow ones.

Agree. It's kind of a joke that they insist on a 4 month time frame when it is so unlikely they will process them within 4 months. 6 months is more accurate.

Dear Frds,

I did apply for an BOWP in the month of Feb. To be precise 28 Feb 2015 while my existing work permit was still valid till Dec 2015.
It got approved on April 29 2015.

However in my case I was being asked by my parent company to travel back which I didn't want to do. Which I feel helped my case since I attached the letter of termination of my contract with the application.

Also with my several earlier conversation with CIC helpdesk it seems that the whole thing depends on the officer reviewing your case and the scenario which compels you to apply for BOWP while your existing permit is valid for more than 4 months. If you have a very strong supporting reason with proper documents as evidence you would get it.

I hope this provides some answers to your questions.

Best Regards,
