Hi all,
Applying for PR, under common-law, when they say:
Provide any additional details of your current relationship That you believe would help to prove your relationship is genuine and continuing.

My girlfriend and I have visited each other for about 5-6 years and we have so many pictures of things we did together and places we visited.
When is it too much?

How much details did you provide on your applications and how many pictures did you submit in total?

Just to have an idea.
Thanks!

depends on how genuine it is.

I included 21 pictures over 3 years. they speak enough. and I included letters and proof and living together. my entire application is abote 130 pages including the forms.

every application is different. just put in what you feel best shows how genuine the relationship is.

I agree with Gary on this one. Provide as much information as you feel is needed to tell your story. Some use 1 photo for every year and big event like wedding, honeymoon, trips, children while others have 100s. It is up to you and your partner what will convince someone of your genuine relationship.

Well our application was not common-law, but we submitted about 60 photos. And as discussed once on another thread, our relationship story was 3 sentences long.

ours either, its just one page.. :) i agree with you, VO wont read your 12 entire pages... and you dont have to prove it in 12 pages, if its really genuine, the VO can easily identify and feel it with your other proof of relationship.. :)

My relationship story was about 5 sentences long only and about 20 pics, I think if it's a real relationship they would know right away, so you don't have to overdo it.

True, and sometimes the more you say the more you will give them an idea to doubt over you and your over elaborated stories. lol Its like your just giving them more time to create some questions behind their mind that youre too trying hard to convince them with super mega duper over long stories. lol :p :p :p

many here have said quality not quantity and I agree! Having said that, as Ms Malawi suggested this does not mean small or large quantity is wrong.

in our case (spousal sponsorship, not common-law) we choose large quantity as follows....
- 450 pages of IM chats
- 500 pages of emails
- 700 pictures
- copies of movie tickets, dinner receipts, tourist places, bus tickets, flight tickets/itineraries, rental agreements
- cards, letters and other communications
- relationship history checklist (1 page short version)
- relationship history long version (5 pages - same order as checklist but detailed)
- we also identified that we are both college/university educated and have a reasonable income and no criminal records

Some people are going to disagree with our choices and that is just fine. Going through Nairobi (31 month posted processing time and one of the longest) we wanted to make sure not to leave anything out. Having just received the request for passport in under 3 months total time I think we did some things right and CIC certainly was moving quickly (Thanks CIC). For the chats and emails, we simply copy/pasted them into word documents and then when ready clicked print.

either way, we found the following link to be a great resource (too bad we found it after packaging ours in a similar fashion and having already sent ours):

I also used that link when preparing my application. Really useful.

And I agree. Unfortunately it does depend which vo you are going through. Which is a shame.
