How many days before course commencement can one enter Canada?

Hello Friends!

A friend of mine recently got student visa for September, 2011 session. Since the student visa has only the "issue date", my friend wanted to know how many days before course commencement can one enter Canada? He basically wants to get there early, get accommodated to the environment, visit the University campus, etc. Since he has relatives there, he plans to spend some time with them as well.

So can one enter 1-2 months before the commencement of the course?

Would appreciate any help,

It should be soon after the issue date which is akin to visa effective date. It is better to check in the FAQ of their website.
 
well there is a guy abid ali on the forum..he also went some days before.. better consult him.. he will guide u betterly... but i guess it wont be a problem.. u can go anytime after ur visa...
 
To be safe, enter not earlier than 1 month. Before that, it's up to them if they allow you to enter or make you go back to home country and ask you to come back later.

well i guess that first of all inform ur university about ur study visa and tell them that u want to come early to get settled so they might provide u with a letter.. secondly check out this website

and email them but ask them that u hav got study permit valid uptil this so when can i come to canada..dont ask or tell them any additional things until and unless they ask for it.. hope it will help.. let us know whatever response u get.. Good Luck..
 
Be very careful man.There was a situation here sometimes back where one was turned back because he presented himself too early.
Familiarisation with the environment? I dont think so.There is always 0 week for doing that.

Dont be disappointed at the port of entry.Go 1 month to.
 
well u better ask the immigration section.. i guess that wud be helpful..wt do u say Habil????
 
I am sure if you ask the immigration officer they will tell you 2 wks to or in relation to the flights to canada from your country near to start dates of your classes..

It is recommended to arrive about 3 weeks before the start of classes.
