Depends on what you mean by PR. If you mean the COPR/visa stamp, that has to be done in 30 days. If you mean the physical act of arriving in Canada, that has to be done before your medical or your passport expires, whichever is earlier. If you mean the PR card, that currently takes about 84 days from the day you apply.

It's actually from the day you land. There is no application to fill out. The PR card application is only for renewals.

Thanks for correcting me there! I was under the impression that there would be some paperwork to file with local address and stuff.
 
ok, so we don't get PR card from CIC before we land ? I was under that impression. is there a cic link , I can go and see all the post ita procedures

You get it after you land. The visa or COPR is what you get before you land.
