how many 50mmX70mm photos do we need to get for filing PR?
Since this is a soft copy of your picture that you'll need to upload, guess only one picture file would suffice.

As far as I know the size they have mentioned is 35 x 45 mm. Though in jpg format it doesn't matter aas long as the specifications are met.

You need two hard copies. Make sure name n address of photographer, date photo was taken is stamped at the back, and your name n date of birth is written at the back. I think they will ask you to mail this along with passport later. For now you only need one digital copy meeting all the requirements..

"At least"is the magic word....at least 35 by 45. They have specific pixel requirement i.e. At least 420*540

*The back of one (1) photograph must:
- bear the name and date of birth of the subject, as well as the name and complete address of the photography studio
- bear the date the photograph was taken
- the photographer may use a stamp or handwrite this information. Stick-on labels are unacceptable.

I think we will need a couple of photos as hardcopy so that we can write the above information behind the copies.

If we're talking express entry stick to the instructions in the document checklist.

Those specifications above concern to old paper-based applications - you definitely do not require to provide the back of the photo with such information.

One digital photo is what is needed.

The 50mm x 70mm pictures apply when you are at PPR stage. They will require two copies of that - one of which is supposed to indicate the name of the photo studio, date of picture, applicant's name , date of birth and the other one blank (and will be pasted to your COPR).
