How long you can stay in Canada, if you have depart order..?

My mother is a PR and didn't meet the residency obligations for the last 5 years. So when she came in recently she received a Depart order. She appealed the decision on the humanitarion grounds. The hearing is going to take at least six months.

Does any one know how long she can stay in Canada with her current Depart order status...?
Does she need to take a visiting visa to be legally in Canada..?
What happens if she is not leaving after six months..?
