i checked NYC too since I am in CT. I was on the Immigration website a few weeks ago, and was looking for information about the visa office in NYC. It mentions changes in what the visa office handles, and it does not mention PR applications at all. As for what other cases go to LA, I have no idea. I would suggest searching the forum for LA visa office threads and read through poster histories to get an idea of who goes to LA.

Thank you so much. I will be patience to wait for my first email, hopefully it will reach me soon.
No problem. Not faulting you for using a lawyer, maybe you felt more comfortable/confident in letting a "pro" handle it for you. Did your lawyer inform you of the actual stages of the process at all? Starting with an Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR) of your application from CIC in Mississauga, then the Sponsor Approval (SA) roughly a month later, and so on. I assume by using a lawyer the emails will go to their office and not you, so they should be forwarding these to you...make sure to pester them for updates! If they haven't provided you with guidance on the steps of the process then they are not providing full service imo, and as rhcohen says all of this information is readily available here on this site anyway. Good luck!

my attorney didn't send me any Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR) and he said the first email he will get is the sponsor approval..

anyways, I can't do anything but to wait for the sponsor approval letter for tracking. :(

Not true... Mississauga sends AOR then SA. The trend lately has been both come within hours or days of eachother. We received AOR last thursday, and SA last friday. Some people report getting them the same day. Again, i'd think about whether it's actually worth it to continue with this attorney... doesn't sound like they are that up to date on the process.

I know I made a big mistake to assign an attorney to handle my case. I have paid him full price and he said he would not start working on my case until I paid off. :(
The attorney is in Canada that the long distance make us could only communicate over the phone and email.
Anyways, all of my documents have been submitted including medical check, crime certificate..
What I could do now is to wait and keep calling my attorney :(

what was written in your agreement with the attorney? i don't see why you can't call CIC to get information about your own file... it might also be your way out of using the attorney, because i've read some attorney agreements say if you start calling CIC on your own, they will stop working on your file. anyway, good luck, and definitely come to this forum for advice... we are all in the same boat!

Hi rhcohen2014,
I appreciated for your kindness.
By the way, do you know what kind of cases will be transferred to LA?

I do not work for CIC, so i have no idea what makes a file get transferred. i only know what i've read on this forum. there are threads about files being transferred to LA. I did as i suggested earlier... i read the post histories of those on the threads and learned about their case. that's all i know.
