How long should it take to get a case number?

Hi so I'm currently in Canada and have applied for permanent residency through family class at the end of July (close to 11weeks) to Mississauga and I've still not received a case number or reply. I know they have received it through my postal tracking but I was wondering if there is a set time frame you should receive a case number?
Thanks
Chester

Sometimes, fairly common, they do not send you and acknowledging receipt at all. I would suggest calling them and tell them to send you one.

Hello,

I unfortunately can`t answer your question how long it takes to receive a case number or reply, but I applied same as u inland at the end of July and did not received anything yet, my UCI from my visitor visa extension is also not in the ecase system yet, I could read here on the forum that some people don`t receive a AOR at all, in that case I don`t know how cic informs the applicant of their case number, I guess we just have to continue for now to be patiently waiting for a sign ;)

good luck !
Or you could call CIC and tell them that you need a confirmation. That's what we did and after a little bit of talking, they agreed to send it.

I will try calling CIC and hopefully talk to a real person. I applied Inland and also applied to extend my work permit which is the main reason I'd like to here from them.

Thanks
