We are getting married in Sydney at xmas, and then he flies home to start the process...ughhhh I feel like crying...Ive read heaps of posts from everyone..and you guys are all brilliant!! i suppose absence makes the heart grow fonder...but most of you are just over the border...im like 2000 miles away :'(

hello aussiecat... it's alright... just do your best to wait and happiness surely awaits you and your fiance at the end... good luck and remain blessed..!

There is no over the boarder for me. My husband is in India and we have been struggling for a long time. We had to go through an appeal process and finally we are just waiting for the passport request. We have not seen each other for a year and at this point, I am really mentally exhausted with this process. I never had the luxury as some do of being able to just cross the boarder and be with the one youlove. Some seem to zip through the process and then other seem to never catch a break. Its the chance you take for the one you love. This process is tough on a long distance relationship, but you will make it through. We just made up our minds long ago that nothing was going to stop us. :D

1773 miles. That's the distance between Toronto and Kingston, Jamaica airports. Add to that the distance from Toronto to the town in northern Ontario where my husband is from, and we are looking at very nearly the same 2000 miles. We got married in June, he leaves next week to return to Canada to start our application process. Also, the visa office is taking at least 7 months to process applications here in Jamaica. So...I have a lot of waiting to do too.

I know how you feel, and so do many others here. Hang in there, you are most decidedly not alone in being very far from your loved one! :)

I couldn't do it.. I went home with the kids in August hoping to get things set up and wait for DH -- but no way.. we missed him too much so we travelled the 12 000 km back to Uruguay to be together and wait the process out down here..
We only just got the AOR -- so I'm sure it will be a while yet.

You will be surprised how fast Sydney can be! If you supply a lot of proof for your relationship, do medicals first and pay all 3 fees its possible that it could take only 1 month with CPC-M, and an additional 2 months in Sydney..its when additional docs are requested that it can take a long time..and interviews are requested due to gaps in your proof and inconsistencies.. I would start putting it together now, then add the marriage stuff later when you get the certificate and photos...

I wish you luck and keep in mind..only 3 months to xmas :P You will soon be getting married..I hope you have a wonderful day..

You're one of the lucky ones, going through Sydney. Took us three months all up, which is a long time to be apart but you can always visit in the meantime.

Good luck!

My husband is in Brazil..so, literally on the other side of the world :( We make an effort every day to make sure that our connection is strong, and we will never quit, no matter how long it takes. We got our interview letter today, so hopefully just a couple more months :) It will have been worth it when I get to wake up and see his face!

There is 6336 kms between Toronto and Rabat airports...add to that travelling to his actual city and/or mine...yea about 6600 kms....getting married in Jan 2011 and then starting the process from a 3rd world country...

I feel your pain...but at the same time I know it is all worth it!! ;D
