How long i s BOWP valid

Hello,

I have recently applied for my PR under CEC but I have the option to renew my open work permit because they only gave me 2 years until my old passport's expiry so on my PGOWP it says the will extend it once I renew my passport.

I have renewed my passport now and am just wondering for how long the BOWP is valid for since I have the option to get another year on my PGOWP or apply for the BOWP.

AFAIK, BOWP is usually valid 1 year after application date

Maybe you didn't read the initial question. They did not give me the full three years of my PGWP because of the expiry date on my passport so it says on my PGWP that once my passport is renewed they will give me the remaining time on the permit. I got a a year and a few months so i still have a year and a few months that they will put on a new PGWP when I send in my renewed passport. So the decision was do this or just go ahead and apply for BOWP? Since I will get more time from PGWP than BOWP I will go ahead and get the remaining months on my PGWP. hence the wording "renew my PGWP".

There is some indication that an open work permit can be extended if it was not originally issued for the full length of time authorized by the program. Though I have only seen this relate to IEC permits, not PGWP permits, I guess the principle is the same.

Yes, in your case the PGWP will most probably be extended for the time you missed due to your passport validity.
