How long have you been married?/together with your partner

7 years, I am an american,.he is Canadian, I am wanting to go to Canada. hope it goes smooth, 7 years should count for something!

Met April 2008, engaged Dec 2008, married Dec 2009, applied for sponsership April 2010.
Still waiting!!!!!
 
We met online in May 2008, met in person in Sept. 2008 when I started my studies in Canada, got married in June 2009, had our son in June 2010.
We are married over a year! :)
 
We met online in February 2001
Met in person in September 2001 when I flew to the UK to meet him.
I moved to UK in November 2003 and we have lived happily together ever since.

You hear so much bad stuff in the press about the dangers of meeting someone online. They make it sound like everyone is bad out there. Why don't they do a story on the thousands of couples that have met online and fallen in love. This thread certainly shows how many of us met online and I think that is fabulous!
 
I was just gonna say that. Majority of the people here met online and I was surprised to see that.
 
The internet certainly made the world a smaller place. There is no way many of us would have met our other halfs without it. How different the world would be without the invention of the internet!!
 
Oh my goodness!. i agree!. so many of us met online!.. I used to be ashamed and lie and tell people we met in person in a bar hahahaha But not anymore. I am not ashamed. regardless where you meet!. people meet nasty people in bars and in the bus stop who are murderers, thieves etc!.
personally i would rather meet someone online anyday than meet someone in a bar!.


Long marriages dont count apparently with CIC. I have been married for 8 years and they are still doubting our relationship!... I also dont have a complicated case. This is my first and only true love.A ll my kids are canadain 3 Of them.Infact the older kid is not biologically mines. she is my husbands ex but i have legal guardianship and have been in her life since she was 7 .Been raising her ever since, she calls me mom, i have a great relationship with her mom!.. and she is also Canadian!..
No kids out of the country. My status in canada is still good until next year, my background is straightforward and squeaky clean as a whistle!. left kenya in 2002 to be with dh been in bermuda ever since.. hmmm.. so yeah 7 years of marriage just adds to the info but just that will not count.... I have learnt the HARD way!..
 
I used to avoid telling people how we met too! It seemed so taboo. Nowadays I go on a real rant when people start saying negative comments about meeting someone online. Personally, I think I prefer it as you really get to know a person and how they think much better than you do sometimes when you first meet someone in person. When I first flew to the UK (alone) to meet my partner, I remember how many of my friends were horrified and told me I was crazy. What if he is an axe murderer etc etc. But I trusted my instincts...I knew he was trustworthy and I was right. Yeah not everyone out there is but if you really pay attention and look for red flags, you can tell when someone is lying.

Black-Berry. Sorry to hear they are doubting your relationship after 8 years! Why would someone stay with someone else for so long if they are only together for immigration!!

Met dh online in 2000 just friends first.

Became an Internet couple in 2001 my birthday. Flew to meet him in person in summer 2002 lived together ever since! Got married in 2003

I love him more everyday ! Three children later I see him walk in the door from work and my heart swells with love. He Is my soulmate. God intended us to be together.

Been married for 8 years now who in this day and age is married and in love for 8 years ???

I met my fiance in an IRC channel in 1998. We became friends pretty much instantly but since she was in SK and I was in NY, plus things like the age difference taking it further never crossed our minds. In 2005 she mentioned wanting to see Niagara Falls on her vacation. Since I live in Buffalo I told her she was welcome to stay here and I'd take her to the falls. 5 minutes after we met we were in love. The wedding will be in March and the application goes in right after

We met on IRC also. I figured if I only talked to people who lived far away I would never have to meet them! LOL, I spent 12 years in the states!
