Hello,

I am hoping someone can help me with this information.

we sent our application for my husband's for permanent residency by courier to the Case Processing office in Sydney Nova Scotia (we are in South Africa & I am a Canadian citizen by birth). It was signed for by Jamie on August 27th, 2018. My question is how long is the usual time frame to get an acknowledgement of receipt saying they have received the application? We still haven't received anything saying they got it...but I do know that it was delivered and signed for.

thanks in advance !

Join August 2018 applicants thread - helpful to see similar timelines
-it used to take 6-8 weeks on average to get AOR1 when applications were sent to Mississauga back in May (for example, we had application received May 11th, AOR1 June 15th)
-applicants applying to Sydney since June have been finding longer waiting times for AOR1

Give it minimum of 3 months now as per Sydney delays we read here daily. There are members waiting for anything at all over 95 days. But chances are they will pick up speed slowly.

Sydney is a new processing centre, I think. It’s either completely new, or they’ve taken on a different workload to process outland applications. It would appear they’re still finding their feet with the outland applications and things are taking longer than we’ve come expect from Mississauga. I’m sure the AOR wait times will start to come down soon.

Hi,

Are they going to send AOR by e-mail or by postal? I [principal applicant] is from the Philippines but now living in Vietnam with my Canadian partner. We sent our application through a courier here in Vietnam. We do prefer to receive communication from them through email because the postal services in SEA is not so reliable.

Hoping for your response.

Thank you,
FilCan

Hi FilCan,

If you wrote down your email address in your application forms then acknowledgement will be sent there.

Always monitor yours and your spouse email as it may be send to either of the two or both. Check your junk mail/spam as well.

Hello JulieAnn,

Thank you very much. Yes, we provided our e-mail addresses.

Best regards,

FilCan

Hello,
Have you heard anything more about the processing times for Sydney? we are still waiting for AOR. I called the call center for Sydney but the number is not accessible outside of Canada. Do you know of a number or email address that one can contact them on from outside Canada to find out what is happening, as it was delivered on 27th August and still no AOR...I know on this thread it says can maybe expect delay up to 3 months, but I would love to speak to someone at the center to acknowledge this. Thank you for your help! kind regards

Hi,

Our application was delivered last July 23rd and we haven't heard from them as well. This is the only information I've found on their website, please check the link below:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=028&top=4

I guess we just have to wait and see how it goes.

Have you linked your paper application to your online account? or do we have to wait for their AOR before we can link?

Thanks...Regards...
