How long does it take to get a visa after sending the passport to ND CHC?

hi everyone. im completely new to this forum. i have a question and hopefully someone out there can answer it

I sent my appilication to sponser my husband to CIC mississauga on april 4, 2012. and my application was then sent to new delhi on july 9, 2012. they requested my husband to send his passport on july 24, 2012. and he sent in his passport on august 2, 2012.
On the website they say the total processing time is typically about 8 months.
I am really confused because i have heard some people come to canada within 5 months of sponsoring. even my immigration consultant is saying that she doesnt know how long it takes them after submitting the passport, as rules have recently changed.

i know every case is different, and according to the complexity of the case they decide whether they want to set up an interview or not.
CHC in new delhi received my husbands passport on august 2, 2012.
so my question is after submitting your passport in new delhi, how long does it take them to make their decision?

There is no certain answer to this question. Some people have got it as early as 2 weeks ! Yet some people like me have been waiting for over 30 working days (excludes weekends). It's rather depressing ! My husband and I are really frustrated. Sorry if it doesn't really answer your question completely.

On the website they say the total processing time is typically about 8 months.

The processing time on the CIC website means 80% of the applications are done within that time. So if the application is straightforward supported by good solid evidence, it can be done much quicker.

It depends on ND visa office....
My Sister's husband also sent an application to sponsor her to CIC mississauga on april 4, 2012 and application was then sent to new delhi on july 8, 2012. they requested my Sister to send her passport on july 23, 2012. and he sent in his passport on July 28, 2012.

Till Date online status showing that application is received.
When the status has changed from "application received" to "In Process" then they will send Visa within 1-2 weeks.
