How long does it take for a visitor extension to be processed? (EU citizen)

It seems like a long time for a person who has a flight booked already. Do you think is there and alternative way to extend my tourist visa, like leave and re-enter Canada maybe?

I don't understand your question. Are you referring to a flight out of Canada? If the processing time goes beyond your flight date, then you just leave.

First of all thanks for answering. Yes I am referring to flight out of Canada already booked (I obviously purchased a round trip ticket). As a visa extension applicant, what if I have to leave Canada before the result of my visa extension application?
