how long do I have to wait to study?

does anyone know how long after marrying a canadian, can a US citizen study in canada without paying as an international student? thanks

Once you become a permanent resident.

Your spouse will have to sponsor you as a permanent resident (just being married gives you no status). Once your application has been successfully processed and you have landed in Canada and become a PR - you can then study at domestic rates.

The spousal sponsorship process can take anywhere from a few months to a few years.

thats what I thought. I didn't think it could take more than 8 months though, so a few years maybe? ouch. And you say once you have landed in Canada, but Im actually already in Canada and we would be doing everything from here..what difference does that make? Thanks
