how long did it take you? Visa from Lebanon to Canada

Hello, just a quick question for anyone who sponsored a spouse from Lebanon to Canada. How long did the waiting take? I know it is different for everyone but my husband and I would like to have an idea as to how long we can expect to wait. Thanks! =)

Hey Natoula,

I submitted my application back on June 2, 2014 and was received in Beirut July 23, 2014. I just received an email yesterday asking for my wife to submit her passport and 2 pictures as part of the final stage, essentially saying they have approved the application and will be granting her a PR visa. They said in their letter it will take approx. 30 days from the time she submits her passport to receive a call back to pick it up.

So all in all, if you factor in the 30 day wait, from June, 2014 to April 2015, approx 10 months for me.

Keep in mind all applications are different. A lot of factors come in to play and it mostly depends on if they need more information from you that will delay the process. Ensure your husband completes his medical before and submit it with your application. Saves you at least a few months I heard.

Thank you Chadi, that was helpful! I made sure everything was done so I could submit everything all together. So far they have not asked for anything because we provided everything including the medical. I submitted the application September 2014 and it was received in Beirut October 2014.

Thanks Natoula. Yes and I was actually quite surprised it took only 10 months, I was figuring on waiting at least 15 months. Like I said, it all depends how much you can prove that the relationship is genuine. If you have all the information they ask, I would say less than a year.

Keep in mind, the ECAS application status was no help at all. So if you are relying on it, I wouldnt worry if you dont see an update. The only time I saw it was updated was after they sent us a letter saying my application was transferred to Beirut. It wasnt until I received the letter request her to submit her passport that the ECAS was updated to include all the other message appeared (medical, request for passport, decidsion).

So just try to be as patient as you can and dont get worried like I did if you dont see any updates to your application.

Sorry I should have corrected myself, it was an email they sent but in ECAS they refer to it as a letter. Just like the email they sent telling us our application has been sent to Beirut for processing.
