How long can stay outside canada for new migrate w/ permanent resident

Hello, I am zristyna, filipina and migrated last 21 March 2012 in Canada ( Saskatchewan, Saskatoon )
I want some clarification for my situation, after the issuance of my RP i had work in Saskatoon for 2 1/2mos after that i
decided to work outside Canada last June 29,2012.
Now am going back home ( Canada )for holiday season to join my family and going out again on Jan 05,2013.
Please let me know if there's no problem when am coming back again on June 2013,
Is my RP still valid to enter Canada?

As long as you stay in Canada for a total of two years in the first five years, you'll be OK. To be clear, these two years don't have to be consecutive.

You only need two years of physical presence in Canada within 5 years. Then just apply for citizenship, and you'll be free to come and go as you please!

To apply for Citizenship, you need to stay in Canada for 3 years in total (meaning you may come and go and come back again, but total duration of your stay has to be 3 years before you are eligible to apply for Citizenship).

Just to be perfectly clear...

To qualify to retain your PR status, you must live in Canada two out of every five ROLLING years (not just the first five years after PR).

To qualify to apply for citizenship, you must have lived in Canada for 3 out of the last 4 years (not five years).

Can you please elaborate a little bit on ROLLING year. It seems that if some one got PR in Jan, 2013 and goes back to home country till Jan 2016 and then visits Canada in Jan 2014 the PR can be maintained and validity will be till Jan 2019?

Is that true. Please clarify.

I don't understand your example since your dates are confusing (you mention 2013, then 2016, then 2014, then 2019).

Rolling means that at any time when you look at the last five years, you must have two years of residency in Canada during that time period. In other words, in January 2018 whe you look back at the last five years, you must have 2 years of residency. Same goes for Jan 2019 (you must have 2 years of residency in the previous 5). And so on.

Another question:

Keeping in view the context (giving entry in canada and come back to home country for some time (1 year( to complete my contract : then settle in Canada):

Shall I purchase return ticket or one way. Will immigration ask me about ticket etc. If I travel on return ticket, can it be a problem for me while immigrating on Montreal Airport.

My plan was to travel on one way ticket to give entry and then purchase one way ticket back for home country from Montreal. But this is way expensive than I buy return ticket at first hand.

Please advise.
