Just wondering...

I was fingerprinted 2 years ago and I've been told that's what's causing the long wait.

What about you?

I'm confused. Surely you don't you mean you requested a Canadian criminal background check from the RCMP two years ago and still don't have the result?

I've been previously fingerprinted before (I got criminal charges and I was found not guilty after a trial). I submitted my electronic fingerprints to the RCMP January 2014. Sorry for the confusion!

Wish I could help but I did mine through a service. It took 10 days.

The place where I had my fingerprints taken told me it'll take a while since I have fingerprint records from the police (due to a couple charges in the past). Could this take a year?

Here's RCMP's email response:

CFSS processes more than 15,000 criminal record searches each month. The processing times for applications will vary depending on whether or not an individuals fingerprints can be associated to a criminal holding maintained by the RCMP. For those that are associated and or a manual review must take place, the process can take in excess of one hundred and twenty (120) days. For those that are not associated the processing time is significantly less. For further information on processing times please visit our website.

If you have a record, then you can probably figure on 3/4 months minimum for return of the results.

If you have a criminal record that can definitely affect your chances of receiving a visa. What type of visa are you applying for?

I see, thanks! I'm applying under the family stream. My husband is my sponsor.

I got no criminal record btw. I was found not guilty and the judge withdrew my charges a year after I was arrested and charged. I been told it'll cause tremendous delay still.

Hi All,
We filed for spousal inland application in January, 2011. We got 1st stage approval in January, 2013 .In April, 2013 my dependent was asked to do RCMP Criminal Background checks and finger printing. Yesterday, we asked for the status of the PR application and we were told that the delay was my son background check. He turned 18yrs in Canada and has no criminal record. How long does it going to take CIC to complete inland Background check.

Please let have your views on this issue.

Thanks

My police clearance from RCMP didn't arrive yet. It's been 6 months since I sent my electronic fingerprints. Does anyone have an idea how much longer it should take?

Don't wait any longer. Contact RCMP. My police check arrived after 2 weeks and the officer told me to call if I wouldn't receive it within 4 weeks

the RCMP criminal check shouldnt be more than a month before it arrive in the mail.
except for immigration purposes, it takes cic some times to update there system.

If CIC requested that you have your prints done, the report should be sent to CIC not to you directly.
