Hello all - quick question for those that might know: we sent our initial spousal application to CIC Mississauga in late May, but we only sent it in regular post from here in the UK (probably took about 5 days to receive it). I'm a bit concerned that I have no way of knowing whether it was received or not? I've checked the Client Application Status webpage but there is no record of our app being processed yet, is that normal? Do they normally take awhile to even start the processing or should I start being concerned that it got lost in the post (I know, hindsight we should have couriered but we sent it signed-for w/o knowing that there's no way of actually tracking that from here!). Any thoughts would be appreciated.....

It's normal. Check the website for the processing times. If the processing time is 30 days, then normally you won't see any sign of the application in the system for 30 days after they received it.
I'm guessing they'll be getting to your application some time soon. Good luck!

Per the CIC Website: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/canada/process-in.asp#sponsorship

They are processing apps received by May 19, and it's taking approximately 38 days to process, once received. Without a receipt from any type of courier, it's really hard for you to know when they received your file. They very well may have your file, but it has not yet begun processing, or it might be in processing now.

I would call the CIC directly, give them your receipt number and inquire if it has yet been received. They may be able to tell the sponsor even [I don't know who is sponsoring whom, as you didn't say] BUT they may be able to tell the sponsor as well the status, and if it has been approved.

I personally received informationon the telephone well before anything updated or showed on my E-cas. I sent my file in on March 23, it was received March 24, and we were approved on April 8th. [I don't think it usually takes 38 days, but there may be some backlog on their end, depending upon how many apps they have received.] Give them a call, and hopefully they can assist you.

Outside of Canada, the number to call CIC is: 001-613-944-4000

Inside of Canada, the number to call CIC is: 1-888-242-2100

Good Luck :-)

Based on my case, it just took 2 weeks for them to have the result of your application. Aft that, they will send you letter with regards to your application. On the letter is will state their if your approved or not. Once you're approved you will have also your Immigration File Number to use it in checking your application in the CIC- Website.

I hope this would you and clearing your questions.

Thank you for your replies. I just literally now found an online tracking system for international post on Canada Post - our item was successfully delivered and signed-for on June 1st, phew! So fingers crossed, our status gets updated within the next 1-2 weeks on ECAS.
