How long after application arrives till answer?

So our outland application supposedly arrived in Mississauga on February 29th. I've since tried to check my application online using the number on the payment receipt I got from paying the application fees, but it told me "We were not able to identify you using the information you provided." I've tried several possible combinations (sponsor information, applicant information, payer's information, etc.), none work, as of this afternoon.

We haven't received any mail, either.

How long does it usually take to hear from CIC? When will we be able to check out application status online?

You will not be able to log in online until you get the sponsorship approval letter, with the UCI number (or even sometimes until a few days after you get the letter).

Right now on the website it says 55 days from when they received the application. You will not hear anything from them until you get your sponsorship approval. So in your case sometime at the end of april you should hear from them! Sometimes you will get an email from them saying they received your application....but not always, so don´t stress out if you don´t hear from them for a while. Just be patient!

Do they notify us if they send it back? We didn't actually date the cover letter (apparently the application is supposed to be signed and dated - all of the forms are signed and dated, but the cover is only signed), and I'm worried that they might send it back, and that if they do it would get here when we're not home and be lost forever... ??? Yeah, I'm a rather panicky person. Good thing my partner isn't!

Some people got a confirmation with their client id after sometime (weeks). While others did not receive anything till their application started to be processed. There are others who received both their client id when they received the approval. I was trying to see why? Some receive acknowledgement at different stages while others do not!
I thought maybe it has to do with the way you mail the application (regular vs courier) but there is not sufficient data to draw conclusions
My own thinking was:
they do not send notification of receiving the application if it was sent by courier since you receive delivery notification from courier service.

I would not worry about that! I don´t think they would send it back because a date isn´t on the cover letter ( I didn´t even do a cover letter and was approved!) I know it can be stressful, Just try to relax and wait for an answer! Good luck!

I think it depends on the discretion of the officer processing your file...

I applied oct. 19, 2011 (also outland) received AOR on Dec.12 which had two file numbers, one for me to log in and one for spouse.... I could not log in within the first 5 days though... but by the 18th I could...
on Dec. 22 I was approved for sponsorship... Both responses from CIC were in email form... to my junk mail.

At the time of my approval, CIC was stating 67 day wait times for approvals...


Also, I would not stress about cover letter date as the cover letter is not required.

I would not worry I did not send a cover letter at all. Just send the requirements...
