Thanks you for sharing the information. In this case i think it will take more time when it comes to have a background on Middle Eastern male.

Thank you all for your reply,
PMM, in the CAIPS they have metion that the relation is geniune and interview waived, and they have metion that on CAIPS after the date they have asked me for FBI and state clearance, paying the PRF and our re-establishing plan (lease and work), they have received all these document in 10 May, so do you think it is a matter of time?

Thank you Boncuk, I am praying for all here, hopefully God will answer our prayer all soon.
I am trying to be optimistic, and think that we will be done soon, because we are very tired me and my husband from this issue, and I am dying to see our new appartment in Windsor..:))

In fact Boncuk...I checked the shopping mall in windsor, place of attraction. It is a very nice town, and the appartment we rent is located in floor 20, so we have a general view of the detroit river and the part of detroit there...What I liked the most , my husband told me that the people are very nice there, they talk with each other with respect and a smile, we have a good neighbhood, lot of arabic food near the appartment...even places who sell shawarma...:)

Yeah the lebanese community is huge there :) You will enjoy it.. lots of comforts from back home.. I love it because when I'm craving the stuff I miss I just go to the many markets and get what I need.. No need to even search for it :) The only thing that would stop me from getting a home in Windsor is those apartment buildings on the river.. the view is fantastic.. it might just be enough for me to go there .. who knows.. all in good time.. have to have a family vote to see what everyone likes the most! :))

hi everyone,

I'm sponsoring my husband from Iraq and going through the Damascus office. I don't want to discourage anyone since my husband's security checks took 13 months (!!) to complete but they are completed now and the Embassy requested last week that he re-do his medical exam. He had done it at his own initiative back in December so once they were able to find the results, they sent me an email that the application is in the final stages of processing. That was precisely 1 week ago. I'm hoping to hear something very soon.

Rorita_76, if your CAIPS notes state that the background checks are complete then I agree with PMM that you don't have anything to worry about. Believe me, CSIS does not clear a file until they're absolutely sure. I don't know your timeline but once you are clear of the checks it is HIGHLY unusual that they will subject you to background checks again. To be absolutely sure you can write to CSIS and ask if they have completed the background checks and you will get a reply in 30 days. But, I'm sure you will hear from the Embassy before then.

(Keep in mind though that your police clearances, etc. are not necessarily part of the background checks and the Embassy may require that you update them, although I have not seen that to be the case with Damascus. For example, if you obtained an FBI clearance from the US and have not gone back to live in the US since the clearance was issued, they would not ask you to obtain a fresh clearance -- which would be illogical anyway since you never went back and could not have committed a new crime).

Hope you hear from the Embassy soon. I understand that the last few days of processing are extremely frustrating!

Thank you Azadi for your reply, and I check immigration.ca, "finally Damascus timeline" it is a very useful link; I know about you that you have been waiting for so long.
Well I guess as well that I must be in the final stage, because we have provide them with everything they asked and not asked for. My timeline is lonnnng as well, I first filled in Feb-25-2008 to Mississauga, I was in the USA with my husband, my file went to buffalo, than transferred to Damascus because I ended my legal stay there as visitor. The file took from September 2008 till January 2009 to reach Damascus...I guess they have sent it over a camel with a broken leg..:)
In Damascus they started processing Feb-12-09. Asked for FBI, State clearance, to pay the PRF, and provide a lease and work in Canada since my husband live in the USA.On CAIPs they said on a date after asking for all the previous document (sent in May-10-2009), relation genuine, interview waived , and they have mention as well that the CSIS background check is done.
So I hope that I am really done, I have done my medical twice, my police clearance from Lebanon twice. I hope they won't ask for anything else.
I guess when it comes to background check for a male from the Middle East, they intend to do intensive background check..So thank God I am a women.
Good luck Azadi, hopefully you will get the wanted letter soon.

Thanks rorita_76.

From what you just stated, it seems like your file is also at its final stages of processing and it is going through its final review.

If I understood correctly from your previous posts, your husband is now living in or has rented an apartment in Ontario and as long as he has a job or decent prospects of finding employment, the financial barriers should not be a significant concern either. If you recall previous posters that's another area of concern for sponsors who have not lived in Canada for a long period of time -- for example, mimi123 was refused based upon financial reasons relating to the sponsor.

After jumping through so many hoops one feels like a trained circus performer :p

You are right Azadi about the financial issue, after all Canada doesn't want another person who will live on social assistance and welfare, don't know the exact word that they use in canada...since we don't have anything like in lebanon..:)
yes my husband has rent an appartment in windsor (very lovely one, dying to see it for real..) and he has started a new compagny in Windsor along with his compagny in Detroit.
So I guess we don;t face a financial issue. To be fair, Damascus was very fast in processing our file and in reply on some of our iquiry sent by our lawyer, but the issue is that I am in lebanon since last August2008, far from my husband and his family there, this is why we are so down and dying to hear the good news.
