how important is IELTS

I'm planning to pursue Masters & Ph.D. in Computer Science in Canada(any University)

B.Tech Computer Engineering: 70.9%(cut through minimum requirement)
12th: 85%(cut through minimum requirement)
10th: 85% (cut through minimum requirement)

Work Experience: 6 months & continuing

However, my IELTS score is not satisfying minimum requirement for most Universities:

Overall: 6
Speaking: 7, Reading: 5, Listening: 6, Writing: 6

Please suggest how important is IELTS score for Universities and name few universities I can still get through. Also, I don't want to pay extra money for these stupid English courses(say for example Concordia English courses) once you reach Canada. I didn't prepare for the exam at all due to work burden, even the last day before exam day

Also, I don't want to waste money again on IELTS. Thanks. Please suggest

It is quite important, as it is very important for you to get atleast band 6 in each area of the ielts exam. in addition to that, even after you get a letter of acceptance, visa officers will have to review your ielts scores. My suggestion is avoid all this hassle and book another ielts exam, and try to improve your reading.
