How fast after getting PR can I sponsor dependents previously mentioned as non-accompanying?

Hello All,

I got my Canada PR recently this year as CEC-inland in April 2023. My family (wife & daughter) were overseas during my PR application processing, and I declared them as non-accompanying due to certain family reasons happening at that moment. My family situation has changed, and I want to start sponsorship process for them and reunite with them as this process may take up to a year. But my concern is should I wait for a while (maybe a year) to make sure that the reason I gave at the time of PR application why they are non-accompanying is logically reasonable till date? How strict they are they in this sort of cases?

Thanks in advance.

You can start application process now as long as you are in Canada, and will remain in Canada.

Don't worry about the previous reasons if the situation has changed - you can address with a letter of explanation. Keep it short, it's not really something you have to prove or justify ('we changed our priorities for family reasons' would be a real explanation). IRCC also knows the process takes time and applicants don't always know in advance.

For new arrivals who want to sponsor unaccompnying family members, to the extent there is a challenge, it would be employment/ability to support (and documenting such).* Since you're CEC-inland I gather you're employed and all that already, so no issue.

*For those in that situation: I'm not saying it's impossible or a problem or a serious challenge, just a different situation, and may need to show/explain financial situation and perhaps update with employment info later, etc.
