How far is background check to make a final decision

Hi everyone,

I submitted an H&C application in Nov 2022 and got AIP in June, 2024. Now I am still at the process of stage 2. In Nov 2024, I got an email from IRCC to confirm with my address. After it, there is no news.

I checked with the immigration phone line, and got to know that now it is under the background check process. Does anybody have the same experience and please share the timeline.

Have you ordered GCMS notes? That may provide more information about what is going on with your file. If you haven’t ordered would suggest that is your next step. The big issue is that it is unclear what is actually going on with the H&C program. Is there just a huge backlog of those who have received AIP and you may have also received P1 but there is such a small quota that IRCC is processing and landing people extremely slowly or is there more going on behind the scenes like a reform to the program. Could also be a lack of coordination between the phone line and your file. Who knows but GCMS notes would be the first place to start.
