So I just got my approval letter today for the fall semester and I'm moving to St. John's, Newfoundland! Woohoo! I was just curious how early I am allowed to move? I have a set job there through my girlfriends uncle who owns a bar so if I have a letter offering me employment, will the border let me come through end of May or should I wait until August like my original plan?

But I really think that depends on how much money you're declaring on your visa.
I know people that arrived 6 months prior to program start without any trouble.
If you can take risks, no problem.
If not (my case), don't take chances, arrive in Canada, at most, 3 months prior to your program start.

To work, it'll depend on what your immigration officer states when you arrive.
You must ask him if you could work right away.

Also, I am going to be driving my car since I am only in the States. I won't have to get it registered or anything since I'm only on study permit right?
You can't start working until you have started school full time. If you start working before you star school, you'll be working illegally and will be in violation of your study permit. This will put you in danger of having your study permit revoked and being asked to leave Canada. If you are coming early, you will need to bring sufficient funds to support yourself during that time without working.cdanielle29 said:

I strongly recommend you to avoid working before your first day of school. Even if you a registred and paid your fees you are till not enrolled into your program. Also, this summer is not scheduled break for you, since that you haven't been a student the session before.cdanielle29 said:

No - not the same thing at all. It's not a break - you haven't actually started studying. Again, you can't start working until your classes have started. Doing so is working illegally and a violation of your study permit. If you care about your future in Canada and don't want to be ordered to leave - don't do it.cdanielle29 said:
