How does one immigrate from China without hiring an agency?

I have a Chinese friend who desperately wants to immigrate to Canada. She doesn't have enough to hire an agency. She does have enough money to buy a plane ticket and live for a few months in Canada and start working after that. She also has a university degree.

I really want to help and this is the only way I know how. Does anyone here know what the easiest route for her would be? You know the unofficial yet legal way that you won't read about on cic.gc.ca? Like becoming a student or something?

Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

Right, don't hire an agency. Do it yourself. There are lots of scams in China.

Dear ipanamesa,the truth is that your friend is not obligated to hire a representative or consultant as it may be.With the help of senior members on this wonderful forum,she will be guided accordingly.But the truth is that "there is n shorter cut" to immigration to canada.there must be waiting period of one to two years before the final decision is made ie Visa stamped.If your friend really want to migrate she must be patience and not so much in a Hurry!!
Migrating as a student means that she has to apply for admission in one of canadas universities or colleges.if her application is approved with acceotance letter,she thus begins the student visa apllication process.or she can try other means of migration ..provincial nominee proramme(PNP),Skilled worker Programme,securing an employment with a canadian firm (AEO).this is my little knowlege .you can still asked senior members lijke Quorax etc for teir input.
