I will be attending Queen's univ for my master's in structural engineering this fall..and I was interested in knowing that how would one proceed to find a job outside the university. I guess I will have plenty of time outside my studies (have gone through, what I need to do in the Univ.) and why sit idle at home and waste my time? Not that I need a job to support myself..but would be great if I did earn some....

I will have no network to begin with ,which would help me in finding a job. I guess one does not simply walk to a shop and ask for a job.. :P :P ...
need to know where to begin and how to proceed.. :) :)

well there r various ways to find part time jobs example from friends, using kijiji/craiglist, going door to door shop to shop giving out resumes , applying online

Universities typically also have job centres.

Stores that are looking for employees usually post on their storefront and ask the applicant to inquire within store. Also places like walmart, safeway, etc have career fair inside store where they accept resumes and usually have interviews done the same day.

Try looking for it on Craiglist or kijiji

I think you should first try On Campus, as its more reliable and sometimes give you more wage than off campus. In Windsor, on campus pays you 10.50, 11$ per hour and off campus is usually 8 to 9$ per hour. so you should see pros and cons.
Cheers ;)
