You know, we didnt send our application yet and I already have hard time on spending the days. I cant even imagine people waiting more than a year already. My visa office seems to be one of the fastest around but since we didnt apply yet, I have frustrations. Hoping to send by the end of this week.

I am working but even when I work, most of the time I am logged in to this forum and keep reading and trying to not miss out anything. I learnt a lot so thanks to you guys who share their experiences with us.

Exercising could be a good idea and before I see my hubby I could be in a good shape. Yeah, I like that idea!!!

Good luck to all of us

I thankfully get to see my hubby every other weekend because Buffalo is only a 2 hour drive away for me. But still makes it hard during the week not waking up next to him.

I am keeping occupied right now planning his "visit" up here before his PR is approved, timeline of when to bring what and how to dispose of the rest of his stuff. He is keeping occupied by selling everything he owns on Craigslist, lol, he is so cute when he actually sells something, lol, gets all proud.

I also just bought a condo and the closing date is August 12th that my hubby and I will be moving into once he is here, so planning colours, floorplan, etc etc for that is keeping my mind focused on other things.

Working out seems like a good idea, have gained about 20lbs since the wedding sadly because of stress and sadly I am a muncher when I am stressed. So getting my butt back to the gym sounds like a good idea.

It is tough to come across people that know what your plans are and don't understand how long the process takes. In my case I'm not the one moving but it's still rough. Last night I was stuck at home as 4 of my friends went on a "double date"... I would've been the odd one out and it made me feel very lonely.

As for passing the time, I work full time and am working on my degree. This summer I am taking a full time course load at university (3 classes) so it has been pretty crazy. We haven't submitted our app yet (still waiting on FBI cert) and I expect that I'll have my Associate of Arts degree (should complete next April) before a decision is made.

My husband and I only get to see each other about every 2 months or so. I'm actually picking him up from the airport tonight (he's staying for 5 nights as it's his birthday tomorrow) so at least I have that to look forward to. I haven't seen him since our wedding last May.

After our wedding in October, I stayed until November and didn't see him until February. 3 months we decided was way too long. 2 months we can handle, but the extra month just doesn't sit right.

All of your stories bring strength here. I can't wait for all of us to be happy!

I've decided to use this time to lose some weight and get healthy so I am in good shape to start a family with my husband when he arrives. I started 10 days after mailing our application, and am already down 35lbs. I'm also going to get started on our wedding album (I'm a scrapbooker) and also using the time to declutter the house, have a garage sale, clean and organize so we'll be ready for him to move in! I can't wait!

Along the lines of what iarblue said, I also think every night when I am going to bed that another day has passed. I try not to think about it as 'another day has passed without my husband' I try to think 'I am one more day closer to being with him'

Congrats on losing 35lb..I desperately want to lose weight too..but find it hard to find motivation :( I had my child in 2006 and put on 65lb..and have managed to lose a total of 15lb in 3 1/2 years! :-[

My hubby moved to Canada in Jun 09.. we had been married jst 10 months n hoped that he could come to US to visit me.. but somehow things didn't work out.. have met him once since then.. we celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary being apart.. his bday, my bday jst came n went.. new yrs eve we were both online watching the same live show jst wishing that the day would come soon when we could be together again.. hoping that we'll be together for ur 2nd anniversary..

jst to boost up our spirits while this process is taking time.. I usually tell my husband that we'll celebrate our 1st n 2nd anniversary together... how many people get to do that.. we our lucky we r getting that :D

my interview is jst a week away so getting prepared for that is the most on my mind write now..

OMG..What a Bill do you not use Calling Cards? I get them to call my family back in the UK..they cost me $5 for 1,000 minutes depending on whether I call a landline or cellphone (25 minutes for a cell)! But can use them from both home phone and Cell! Will save you $$$$ in the long run. The ones I use are Cici

You can buy them at the grocery store or corner store..I just dont recommend the Walmart ones you get half the time on them..just watch out for connection fees and surcharges..many of them dont charge you extra but a few do!

Yikes! How much are you paying per minute? I called Telus to get a better rate to Nigeria and they dropped me to $.15 per min. I would have to talk to my husand for 134 hours per month to get that bill! We limit it to 30-60 minutes per day by phone and then use skype for a couple of hours because 1 hour a day would never be enough!

Find out what other company will offer you a great rate to Brazil. Then call Telus and threaten to switch providers and they will drop your rate. I told them I would move to Primus to get $.15 per minute and they had no problem changing my rate.

As for phone cards, I don't use them because I want to be able to track my calls so we can use it as proof at his upcoming interview. iarblue, I imagine you are doing the same thing!

I talked to telus they didnt do anything for me.We have majic jack but thats only when she is home.I call her everyday from my job(drive truck).I talk to her for only a few minutes to say hi.Then call her at night on the majic jack. But sometimes during the day i call her as we need to sort out things before she gets here so we talk for maybe an hour.
Oh well, ill try getting Telus to do something.
Were less than a month from her interview date so she is getting things ready for that although they didnt say to bring anything but her passport so i dont know what to think. So we decided to bring in more proof emails, skype, msm, phone bills, facebook, and whatever else.
Im not sure why they are calling her for the interview as on the list of things she was asked to bring they only checked passport. There was spots for proof, other documents, police reports, and a big list of other things the only one they checked was passport?????

If I were your wife, I would bring my passport and 10-12 pages of documentation of your communication. I have heard of situations where the person brings in so much the IO has to go through everything and it delays the application!

I'm surprised she doesn't have to bring in originals of documents, like the marriage certificate. Oh well, perhaps it's a good sign!

As for the phone, if you're calling her mobile you might not get much of a break. While Telus was able to reduce my rate for landlines, they reduced my rate for mobiles in Nigeria, but only to $.35 per minute (from $.99 per minute). I don't call his mobile often, thank goodness. It's much cheaper for him to call me from his mobile, so that's what we do when he's out of the house, although we normally text.

For the certificates we sent in all originals as she was informed by them in Sao Paulo she would have them returned to her when she picked up her passport if approved,if not approved she could still go to retrieve them.So we sent in the originals. So thats why they are not asking for originals from us anyway. And yes she does not have a land line just a mobile.

actually i am moving back before my dh (i am jumping the gun and assuming that he will be accepted) -- and preparing for that.

Packing up the last 5 years.. plus 2 kids in 5 suitcases that weight no more than 23kilos.. is QUITE A TASK!

that and working 70+hs a week.. and looking after my babies.. :)

I am doing the same thing in order to make sure our (almost) 10 year old will be able to start school in the fall with less disruption than there would be if we pulled her out mid year to move. DH is staying here in the US until the visa comes through.

Lucky for me I can bring more than 5 suitcases but it is still extremely hard to pack up 12 years of marriage in to a Uhaul.

I realize that you explained in a later post that you call from the road, but there has got to be a better option. We have Bell basic cable, internet and a land line with free unlimited long distance to Europe (for his family) and all of North America (for mine) and the package only costs $70 per month. That does include a 30% discount, so it really costs $100. My US cell phone plan, which I just gave up, included 500 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends with free long distance to North and South America for $70. I think it's time you go shopping, my friend. She might be worth every dime, but it seems Telus is getting them all! There are better ways to spend (or save) your money.
