How do I choose which immigration office my application goes to?

Hi,

My wife (Canadian) and I (American) are about to submit our Outland Spousal Sponsorship Application.

With the old IMM-0008 form you could select which immigration office your application was sent to. In our case we want our application to be sent to Ottawa. I completed the new IMM-0008 form today and noticed that they had removed the box indicating where you would like your application to be sent to.

My question is how do we make sure our application is sent to Ottawa and not some where like LA or NY?

The option has been taken away in the new form. CIC will choose the visa office based on your current address/citizenship, and whether your application is considered straightforward or not.

They don't send them to LA or NY unless they require an interview and as such the wait time is much longer, all applicants for outland US are processed through Ottawa.

also, NY does not appear to process any family class applications anymore, so if there is an interview, it will be in LA. Currently, there is no other option for interviews for us applicants. I would say about 99.9% of applicants are waived the interview.
