I have CAD$18,000 as required for my FSW PR (for my family of 3).

Do I just get a Bank Draft cheque worth $18,000 from my country of origin bank, put it in my wallet, then when I arrive in Canada, go to a bank and ask a teller that I want to open an account?

Or is this an over simplification of the process?

You make a demand draft in Canadian dollars from your local bank.
Declare the same on your first entry to Canada in airport customs.
Get your SIN number from Service Canada office a day after completing entry formalities.
Approach a bank with your DD and SIN number. Open an account and deposit your draft.
You may need to provide a local address for bank account opening.
That's it

Good luck..

Hi
I will be landing in canada on 30 th of this month as a FSW immigrant. I am aware that I need to carry CAD 11115. I have decided to carry 500 dollars in cash and rest in Travel card which is a visa chip and pin card. My bank in my origin country has issued it and this card will have the money in CAD only. Will this be considered as banking instrument for prof of fund?

Thanks
