Hi, I got in contact with someone in CIBC bank so I hope this answers everyone's questions.
I am an Indian citizen with an Indian passport but I live in the UAE with my parents. I am also in the SDS (student Direct Stream) category.
This was their response:
"Please note that for GIC under CIBC’s International Student Deposit Program, we will process the payment only if remitter’s and beneficiary’s name match.
If you are holding passport from India, you may select payment country as India.
If you will be sending payment from UAE - United Arab Emirates, we will accept the payment if we receive it from your own account/ joint account.
We will process the payment only if it is received from student’s account or any joint account of student.
If you will be transferring payment from joint account, before transferring payment, we request you to send following documents:
1. Your passport copies.
2. Other account holder’s passport copies or any other ID
3. Bank book/ documents showing that you and account holder’s holding joint account from which you will be transferring the payment.
GIC Certificate will not send by post, it will get uploaded on your profile at our portal."
Hope this helps everyone
If you need any further help, just email them at
mailbox.ISBO@cibc.com and they'll reply within 24 hours. (I got a response in 15 minutes.)
For Scotiabank, you can send them a message on Twitter. They reply quickly too. But they prefer you to do the payment from India since your passport is from there.
