How can I start a business in Canada

I am new to this forum. One of my friends recommended me this website.

I just landed in Canada almost ten days ago and I am very interested in starting a small to a medium size business in Canada, especially in cities such as Toronto, Ottawa or Vancouver.

I will really appreciate if members in this forum with good knowledge and/or experience who have started and are managing their own business successfully in Canada could share some information as to how I can start my own business here in Canada.

I mean, what are the rules and procedures of starting a business in Canada? Is there any official government website or government department office I can visit to get information about starting a business in Canada?

Please kindly share your valuable knowledge and experience about how to start a business in Canada.
