How can I have my police certificate done in Canada and the country that I lived

When I went to Police Service yesterday, I was told that they only provide fingerprint service. And I was told to go to my local OPP to have my police certificate done. But OPP provide TWO type of police check, which is criminal record check and police record check.
Question 1 : which type of police check do I need for family sponsorship?
Question 2 : How can I have my police certificate done in Canada?

Usually you do not have police record done in Canada. If they want one they will request your fingerprints. Otherwise you need police clearances from any country you have lived more than 6 months since turning 18. For those you would need to find out the requirements of your country.

1) its called "criminal record check certificate" in canada ( in pakistan its the character certificate)
if u have any criminal record then only they ask for fingerprints otherwise they dont... i know this bcz i got one made from edmonton, AB for my sponsorship applicatn.

2) u go to a local police station n they will tel u from where u get it. its a separate place bcz a lot of peopl need such certificates usually for employment n pr applications !

Applicants do NOT need to provide a police check from Canada. CIC runs extensive background and security checks. Police checks are ONLY needed for any OTHER country lived in for more than 6 months.
