Hi every one

I applied for citizenship 5 months ago. I am going to leave Canada.
Is it a negative point for me?
I am wondering if I should announce to CIC or not.
And how can I change my mail.

thanks

Assuming you have the required amount of days accrued for citizenship.
You could arrange for someone to open your postal mail, they can let you know when you get further information.
You can then respond accordingly.

Call the CIC help line for information that is specific to your case.

Somebody said that CIC requests that you notify them if you will be out of the country for more than 3 weeks with your citizenship application pending but I have no link and I have not looked it up myself. As long as you have somebody check your mail while you are gone, you can get back to them if they try to contact you.

It is not negative towards your application. You are allowed to move to another country with your citizenship application pending. There are instructions here on how to change your mailing address: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/faq/citizenship/cit-address-faq01.asp and they also include the possibility that you do not live in Canada.

However, what could be considered negative towards your application is if you miss test or oath dates repeatedly because you are living in another country. If that were to happen, they would start to wonder if you are still interested.

When I called the call centre asking about this, the agent told me that it's ok to move abroad as long as you still fulfill the PR retention requirements, but that you need a Canadian address for them to send correspondence to. Whether this was true or she was mistaken I do not know. The call centre agents are generally good, but not always.
