Hello everyone,

My mother applied for tourist visa but she was refused and this one is the reason,

- Your host has not demonstrated financial ability to pay for the expenses of your proposed stay in
Canada.

I do not understand why?..I sent them 4 months bank statement with $10,000 fund on my chequing account and also a Letter of Employment. What else do they need from me in order to demonstrate my financial ability. Can somebody help me how to demonstrate financial ability as a host. Thank you so much for your help.

Hi Angela,

They consider a lot of factors in financial ability.
1. How long have you been working at your current job and if it's a full time employment or part-time. << Give them work experience letter of employer mentioning how long you have been working and what is your salsry or hourly wages.
2. Was 10,000 $ fund deposited in your bank account all at once - if so, they might think that you have arranged payment just for the Immigration purpose << If So, keep fund in your account longer and If this is your saving over the years than thi should be fine.
3. Your monthly income is not sufficient enough << Paystubs, experience letter and NOA from CRA
4. How many person leaves in the house hold and their expenses << For example if you have dependant child, that will be in consideration for financial expenses.
5. Your monthly expenses << Your mortgage, car payment, debt if any.
6. Duration of stay of applicant << Longer the stay, more expenses.

Basically all you have to show them is you are bringing more money in your household to support your mother without being affected financially.

Hope this helps

Hello Jalex23, the trip requested was only 6 months.

I have never seen that refuse reason, as the "host" is of no interest to CIC. The guest is the sole responsible for showing they can afford the trip, regardless of sponsorship.

Anyway, just by what you said, does that deposits make sense? I mean if you are making 3K a month and you get deposits of 10K in two months that doesn't make sense. It would indeed raise a red flag.

But as said, what the host has proven or not is secondary. Did she provide enough evidence she can afford a six month trip? Was this not mention in her refusal?

Something sounds off.

Hello Jalex,

You know what that was my mistake, depositing the money all at once, I withdraw that money from my TFSA and deposited it to my bank account because in the requirements they were asking for bank statements. I should have asked a statement from the financial insurance agent handling my TFSA instead of withdrawing the money and just sent that statement with my mother's application. Anyway I learned my lesson and thank you for your time sharing your ideas.
