hi everyone,

this question goes to everyone who has knowledge on this subject but especially to some other Germans like me who already have experience on this subject:

my PR went through...way sooner than expected and now all of a sudden, i'm confronted with seeking work in canada...
i'm not going to land until july because i'm currently doing an internship in germany until the end of june...

BUT...my question is...how do you think my chances are on the canadian market?
and has anyone some knowledge on this? maybe some of you guys could share your own experience on this subject with me?

i did a banking apprenticeship of 3 years from 2008-2011 and i'm currently in my 6th (and last) semester of my bachelor's programm (at a german university)...i'm most likely going to be bachelor of business administration and economics by the end of the year...

how do you think my chances are to get a job in my field...which would preferably be in a bank?

PS: i'll live in the vancouver area...

i'd really appreciate some input...:) thanks guys!

I'm sure there are also government work agencies that can assist you in getting a job. You'll be fine. Believe in yourself!

It depends on what level of a banking job you are looking for. Toronto and Montreal are the main financial cities in Canada. If you want to be an analyst or financial advisor, you'll have lots of options. Canada has a pretty limited field of players in banking, so you could just look at each of their websites for job opportunities: Scotiabank, TD, RBC, National, BMO, and CIBC.

Most european degrees are recognized in Canada, and you'll not require equivalency. However, there are places where you can get your degree evaluated (such as www.wes.org). I am in HR, and along with education, putting relevant experience/skills are very important on your resume. Your resume is ultimately getting you to an interview stage, and it's always tailored towards the job you are applying to.

I would recommend that you start applying for jobs at least 2-3 weeks before you leave. In addition to above places where you can apply, there are these websites where jobs are posted.
